Frequently Asked Questions
-
In‑home pediatric speech therapy means a licensed speech‑language pathologist comes to your home and works with your child in their everyday environment instead of a clinic. Sessions happen on the floor, at the kitchen table, or wherever your child is most comfortable, using familiar routines and toys to make communication feel natural and low‑pressure.
Other benefits of in-home therapy include the possibility of completing sessions out in the community, your child’s daycare, or private school.
-
After an evaluation, we decide together whether in‑home sessions are the best fit for your child. I bring any needed materials, join your child in play, coach you right in the moment, and leave you with simple ideas to weave into your daily routines between visits.
-
For many young children, in‑home therapy is just as effective—and often more effective—because skills are practiced where your child actually lives, plays, and interacts. Being at home can lower anxiety, increase engagement, and make it easier for you to see exactly how to support communication during everyday life.
-
Gestalt language processors learn language in longer “chunks” or scripts (often from shows, songs, or adults) before they are ready for flexible, self‑generated sentences. In home‑based sessions, I join your child’s interests, use declarative language instead of rapid‑fire questions, and model natural scripts they can eventually break down into their own words—while coaching you to do the same between visits.
-
I encourage parents and caregivers to be as involved as they would like to be. Some children really benefit from having mom or dad join in, while others prefer their time with clinician only. I am open to whatever option works best for your child and their goals.
-
Most sessions are 45 minutes and are play‑based, child‑led, and movement‑friendly, rather than table‑top drills. I also offer 30-minute options for children who benefit from shorter sessions.
I typically bring a basket of 3-5 toys and activities that I believe your child will enjoy. The toys and activities are selected based on your child’s interests and therapy goals. Sessions are meant to look fun and engaging instead of “work.” I pride myself in embedding speech and language goals into play.
-
Frequency of therapy depends on your child’s needs. I will be open and upfront about the frequency of therapy that I believe will most benefit your child. Most frequently, children need at least two sessions a week to see meaningful progress.
I complete complimentary progress notes every 6 months which will provide a detailed summary of your child’s progress according to the goals that were initially set for them. I adjust goals and techniques based on your child’s response to therapy because their success and progress is a top priority.

I currently travel throughout Northern New Jersey for in-home, daycare, or private school sessions, with a focus on families in Bergen, Passaic, and Morris counties.
-
I will provide individualized speech and language strategies that you can use to support your child’s communication skills. I love when parents are clear about the level of support they would like to receive. Some parents appreciate a simple strategy and example while others prefer more detailed recommendations. Let me know!

I’m a licensed speech‑language pathologist with specialized training and experience in pediatric speech and language, including kids who move, play, and communicate in their own unique ways. I’ve worked with toddlers through school‑age children and regularly support families navigating things like language delays, speech sound challenges, autism, and complex regulation needs.
-
Your child’s evaluation starts with a thoughtful conversation with you so I can understand your concerns, your child’s history, and what everyday life looks like right now. I then spend time observing and interacting with your child, use assessment tools that fit their profile, and provide a clear explanation of results, next steps, and a written report you can refer back to after our visit.
-
Goals are always individualized. I look at your child’s strengths, your priorities, and what will actually make daily life easier for your family. From there, we decide together on a starting schedule (for example, weekly in‑home sessions), and we revisit frequency as your child grows and your needs change.
-
I’m a private‑pay provider, which means families pay me directly at the time of service. For many families, I can provide a detailed receipt called a “superbill” that you submit to your insurance company, which may reimburse you for part of the cost depending on your out‑of‑network benefits.
-
Life with kids is unpredictable, and I build that reality into my policies while also protecting consistent therapy time for all families. I ask for as much notice as possible for schedule changes, have a clear window for canceling without a fee, and outline how late cancellations, no‑shows, and repeated missed sessions are handled so there are no surprises.
-
You won’t need to guess. We’ll talk regularly about what you’re seeing at home and what I’m seeing in sessions. I’ll point out small but important changes (like less frustration or more attempts to connect), adjust goals when needed, and make sure you always understand how therapy is supporting your child’s bigger communication picture.
